Meet Marija

Marija came to Happy Hill Farm all the way from Macedonia. Like many teenagers around the world, she dreamed of experiencing life in America. One day she saw a post on Instagram about volleyball opportunities at our school and decided to apply.

What she found here was far more than she expected.

When Marija talks about her life before coming to Happy Hill Farm, she describes a very different school environment.

“Back home,” she told me, “school was very hard, and the teachers didn’t really care if we learned. We were mostly on our own.”

But when she arrived here, she experienced something different.

“The teachers here are really lovely,” Marija said. “They help us and they actually want us to learn.”
