Academics & Curriculum
North Central Texas Academy’s curriculum is one of a private, Christian, college-preparatory boarding, day, and international school. With qualified and highly-trained leadership and staff members in curriculum, educational support, fine arts, and athletics, the course of study at North Central Texas Academy continues to broaden and make higher and higher goals available to its students.
Fine Arts
Music
Music is very important to the NCTA Pioneers. The NCTA choir and soloists consistently score the highest ranking in competitions. These have included choir, praise band, vocal ensembles, vocal soloist, piano, and violin. The music team has taken the State Champion Runner-Up trophy. In addition to general music classes, choir and private musical instrument lessons are offered.
Art
Art classes are offered in every medium, and NCTA students consistently place very high in art competitions, both individually and as a team. The NCTA Art team holds two State Championships.
College and Career Planning
At North Central Texas Academy, the process of helping students make big decisions begins by listening and planning together. Students are introduced to, and take, the PSAT on campus. In their junior and senior years, they take the SAT and the ACT as the Academy begins to develop all the options available to each student based on their interests and abilities. Students are helped throughout the process by researching and visiting colleges and universities of interest. The senior year is devoted to submitting applications, preparing essays, and keeping track of supportive documents needed to complete application packets. Testing requirements for different colleges and universities are met.
Financial aid plans and scholarships are pursued based on need and interests. Due to many unique relationships, North Central Texas Academy graduates have many opportunities to attain college scholarships. Senior workshops help prepare graduates for the transition to college and young adult life..
