Plants for the new Happy Hill Farm Memorial Garden were all donated by Paula and Jim Prewitt of Landmark Nurseries, Inc.

Growing by Leaps and Bounds

Currently under construction is a Welcome Center (to handle the hundreds of visitors now coming to the Farm); a Medical Clinic (where two volunteer pediatricians will provide medical care to the students); three new residences for children (each having eight boys or girls); and the growth of the Academy to some 60,000 square feet of classroom space, labs, library, and much more.

"We're turning away more than a thousand children a year," said Ed Shipman, Founder. "Knowing the money and time that would be involved, we've made it a '15-Year Advancement Plan.' We're adding three more homes for 24 additional students. To be able to handle the planned expansion, we need more academic space." The Medical Clinic and Welcome Center will greatly strengthen the Farm's program. Several individuals and foundations have made major financial commitments to help build the Academy, as well as the Welcome Center, Medical Clinic, and the three homes for children. The current General Contractor is the DeMoss Company of Fort Worth. Huckabee, also of Fort Worth, is the architect.

"There is much yet to be done," said Gloria Shipman, who has given oversight to all of the Farm's construction to date. "We need many friends to get involved and help financially with lab equipment, library books, athletic equipment, ag supplies -- the list is endless in a project like Happy Hill Farm."

You may make a contribution on line, or you may write or call and find out how you can get involved in the much-needed expansion of the Farm's campus and program.
